I just came back from being mobilized by my dept. I was hoping to go into the city itself, but was assigned regular patrol. We had to close off highways and escort refrigeration trucks that I was told were commandeered to assist with morgue duties. As we now speak, I estimate at least 25000 innocent lives were taken, not to mention about 1000 police and firefighters who were killed by the toppling towers. The Towers built in 1970, became a New York symbol, and it is hard to imagine our skyline without them. This attack not only saddened us, but angered and galvanized us as well. Whom ever did this, has made a great enemy of a great people! Today, we are not Hispanic, or Anglo, Black or White, but rather we are Americans.
