Risk of diabetes increases for Latinos

According to the American Diabetes Association, Latinos are almost twice as likely to have diabetes as whites.

The 2003 California Health Interview Survey found that 10.5 percent of Latinos contacted in the San Joaquin Valley had diabetes, compared with 7 percent of blacks and 6 percent of whites. Statewide, 7.5 percent of Latinos had diabetes, compared with 5.6 percent of whites.
