Value Voters like Lou Dobbs Enjoy racist gifts

News - Culture - US

At a recent gathering or right wing evangelical groups called the Value Voters Summit, one of the vendors sold Obama Waffles.  The box showed an exagerrated image of Obama reminiscent of Aunt Jemima and a picture of Obama on the top in Arabic style dress.

The organizers asked the vendors to leave after a while (showing good sense), but not before Lou Dobbs purchased a box as a gift for his wife.  This is an occaision where Lou Dobbs gets to show us some background character which might contribute to his extreme obsession with immigration.

Public displays of racism are problematic because it tends to affect all groups eventually.  Unfortunately, sites like Christianity Today continue to endorse racist humor.

Latinos tend to be a largely religious group and having a religious event and publications support bigotry isn't a good way to reach out, if that is the intent.

It was political satire. It was also racist satire, using very traditional stereotypes and humor at the expense of Blacks, Muslims, people with African/Arabic names and probably a few more.  Makes me wonder what the values were..
